A new trial for a Lexington woman accused of shooting and killing her mother in 2010 in Mississippi has been scheduled for next month, officials said.

Rebecca Jones’ attorney, Robert Laher of Tupelo, Miss., said the trial has been scheduled for Feb. 19. He said the trial will be held in Booneville, Miss.

Jones, 49, 1551 Lauderdale 450, Lexington, which is near the Center Hill community, is charged in connection with the May 11, 2010, shooting death of her mother, Jane Jones, 66, according to Prentiss County Sheriff Randy Tolar.

Jones’ murder trial was held in October; however, a mistrial was declared after Jones became ill and had to be hospitalized.

Prentiss County Circuit Judge Seth Pounds issued the mistrial and ordered a warrant issued for Jones’ arrest as soon as she was released from the hospital. She has been in the Prentiss County Jail since being released from the hospital.
