Man injured in jump from car
RUSSELLVILLE — A Madison County man was flown to Huntsville Hospital on Wednesday after he jumped from a moving vehicle, authorities said.
Police said the man’s name was not available Wednesday.
Investigators said the man, who was in Russellville visiting someone, was a back seat passenger in a car traveling on Norton Avenue through Eastside Apartments in Russellville.
Authorities said according to witnesses the man opened the car door and jumped while the vehicle was traveling 10-15 mph. The incident happened just after 3:30 p.m.
Russellville police detective Lt. Scotty Lowery said the man was stabilized at the scene and then flown to Huntsville Hospital. His condition was not available.
Lowery said the incident is under investigation by the police department.
Student aid help available today
PHIL CAMPBELL — Representatives from the Blueprints College Access Initiative will be at the Phil Campbell campus of Northwest-Shoals Community College to assist high school students with federal financial aid applications.
The workshop is 5:30-7:30 p.m. today in the library at the Northwest-Shoals.
The program is part of Alabama Possible, a statewide non-profit group that addresses poverty issues in Alabama.
Leaders will help students and parents fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form, or FASFA.
Students and parents should bring Social Security numbers and 2012 income tax returns. If the 2012 tax return is not available, the 2011 documents will suffice.
