Nursing students help school children MUNCH
By Jennifer Edwards
TheTimes Daily

FLORENCE — University of North Alabama nursing students and faculty are helping provide food for elementary school children on weekends.

The Project MUNCH, Making UNforgettable Children less Hungry, was initiated by Kristy Oden, assistant professor in the College of Nursing at UNA, and UNA nursing students have joined the effort. MUNCH provides bags of non-perishable foods to 10 students in Colbert County and 20 in Franklin County.

Nursing students purchase food items and pack the bags for distribution each Friday.

Donations for Project MUNCH are currently being accepted in the College or Nursing, and a food drive will likely be held in March.

For more information, contact Oden at kooden@una.edu or Jennifer Dawson, instructor of pediatric nursing at UNA, at jsdawson@una.edu.
