One injured in early morning Colbert County accident

SPRING VALLEY — One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident this morning on Colbert County 22, officials said.

Troopers said Marion Newsome, 39, Leighton was injured and taken to Helen Keller Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and later released.

Authorities said the accident happened at 5:17 a.m. just east of Valley Grove Baptist Church.

The two vehicles, which hit head-on, ended up in the eastbound lane.

Emergency personnel said the driver of the other vehicle, whose name was not available, was not injured.

The accident is under investigation by the Quad-Cities State Troopers Post.
