State Sen. Arthur Orr, R-Decatur, has been reappointed to the state’s Department of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention board of directors, representing Congressional District 5, which includes Lauderdale County.
The department was created by the Alabama Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Act in 1983. According to its website, its mission is to secure resources to fund programs “committed to the prevention of child maltreatment.”
Reappointed by Gov. Robert Bentley, Orr’s new term expires at the end of 2015.
