Lauderdale County coach Brent Llewellyn celebrates with his team after a great play against Holly Pond in the Class 3A final today.

BIRMINGHAM – When the carnage was complete, there was no doubt which Class 3A girls team was the best in Alabama early Saturday morning.

That would be Lauderdale County – by a mile and a half.

The Tigers put on another dominant performance on the way to the school’s state-record 10th championship, dropping Holly Pond 59-41 at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex. It was also the second consecutive state title for Lauderdale County.

Ivy Wallen and Chatara Cox, two of the catalysts all season for the Tigers, were at the forefront of the rout.
