RUSSELLVILLE — Police said a man was caught on video taking money from a local business and is in jail, charged with burglary.
Charlie Nelson, 26, 100 Stonecrest Apartments, Apartment 203, Russellville, is charged with third-degree burglary, Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said.
Police said Nelson is accused of taking $6,000 from a local dentist office over a two-month period.
Russellville police detective Lt. Scotty Lowery said the business owner installed a video camera and caught Nelson going through the office trying to find cash.
“As it turned out, Nelson had stolen a key to the business from an employee and was using the key to go into the office at night and look through the office getting petty cash,” Lowery said.
He said Nelson was picked up Monday, questioned and then charged. Lowery said the key was located inside Nelson’s vehicle and more than $5,000 was recovered at his residence.
Nelson is being held in the Russellville City Jail without bail at this time.
