FLORENCE — A man stabbed during an altercation at his residence Monday night remains in serious condition at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, officials said this morning.
Christopher John Stokes, 27, 1131 Bradshaw Drive, Apartment B4, was stabbed at least twice during the altercation, police said.
Tom Whetstone, a spokesman for ECM Hospital, said Stokes is improving and is in the facility’s Cardiothoracic Recovery Unit.
Florence police detective Lt. Mike Holt said no arrests have been made.
“We’re still trying to determine exactly what happened and what led to Mr. Stokes being stabbed,” Holt said.
He said Stokes was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle and police were notified by hospital officials.
“There were several people there when the stabbing took place and we’re in process of trying to talk with these individuals as well as with the victim when he is able to talk,” Holt said. “Hopefully, we will know more when we get to talk with him.”
Holt said police were notified about the stabbing at 10:01 p.m.
Anyone knowing anything about the stabbing is asked to contact the police at 256-768-2728 or Shoals Crime Stoppers at 256-386-8685.
