FLORENCE — Police are investigating two robberies that took place this weekend.
Florence police detective Sgt. Cliff Billingsley said a 34-year-old man was robbed Sunday night in the parking lot of Subway on Cloverdale Road in the Petersville community between 6:30-7 p.m.
The other robbery took place late Friday night at D&D Market on Lauderdale 14 and Alabama 20, police said.
According to reports, two men attacked the man in the parking lot of Subway.
“From what we have been told by the victim, the two men came up to him, forced him to the ground then stepped on him and threaten to shoot him,” Billingsley said. “He did not see a gun, but the robbers implied (they) had one.”
Reports indicate the robbers took money and three bottles of prescription pills, and left on foot.
Billingsley said one robber was described as a while man, 6 feet 1 inch tall wearing a dark-hooded shirt, black bandana over his face, dark clothes and white shoes.
He said the robbers were last seen going toward Taylor Road.
Billingsley said in the other robbery, a man wearing a lizard mask robbed the clerk at D&D Market about 9:30 p.m. Friday.
He said the clerk reported the man walked in, pulled out a pocket knife and demanded money and left after getting the money.
“He left the building going north,” Billingsley said. “One of our canine units was able to track him for a short distance toward Lauderdale 14 until the tracks stopped. We believe that’s where he had a car parked that was used to get away.”
The robber was described as a white man wearing a brown hooded jacket with the green mask and blue jeans.
There were no injuries in either robbery.
