Rhodes helps Trojans down Cherokee

Arsheana Rhodes came up with an 11-kill performance Monday to help Muscle Shoals (16-14) top Cherokee 25-17, 25-7, 25-14 in high school volleyball.

Raegan McInnish chipped in with six kills, while Alex Hillman and Mary Emily Dreaden had eight and seven digs respectively to lead the defensive effort.

Destiney Smith finished with 13 assists and Lexis Goodwin had eight assists. Alex Vinson recorded four blocks.

For Cherokee, Caylee Rutland and Samantha Worsham had six kills each.

n Brooks 2, Loretto 1: Katie Weber, Kaitlyn Belue and Hanna Richardson each had seven kills as Brooks (16-25) won at Loretto 25-23, 20-25, 25-17.

Caitlyn Baker (15) and Rylee Akers (12) led in assists, while Katelyn Wear had 14 digs.

For Loretto (17-7), Makenzie Childress finished with six kills, 14 digs, three blocks and four assists.

Rachel Burden added seven kills, 10 digs and four blocks, and Shay Stults had five kills and 10 digs.

BrinLee Glass had 47 assists and four aces.

n Wilson 2, Russellville 1: Harlee Murphy won eight straight points while serving, including four aces, to lead Wilson to a 2-1 win over Russellville.

Wilson lost the first set 24-26 and trailed in the second when Murphy got hot from the service line.

By the time she was done, the Warriors had a lead and never looked back, winning the second set 25-16 before taking the deciding third set 15-5.

Lexie Bradley had 12 kills and five digs for Wilson, while Ciarra Edwards had 11 kills, four blocks and four digs.

Jennifer Schroeder had 10 digs and Brianna Terrell had 20 assists.

n Wilson 2, Shoals Christian 0: Class 4A No. 3 Wilson (26-7) had an easier time with Shoals Christian, posting a 25-9, 25-9 victory as Terrell had 20 assists, nine aces and six digs.

Sierra Rinehard also had seven aces for Wilson. Edwards had 13 kills and four digs, while Bradley had seven kills and eight digs and Schroeder had eight digs.

n Belmont (Miss.) 3, Waterloo 0: Waterloo lost to Belmont 25-18, 25-16, 25- 22.

Brittany Young led Waterloo with 18 digs and five kills.

Destinee Woods also had five kills. Amber Woods added five kills and three blocks.
