Seminar to address grief after loved one's death
By Lisa Singleton-Rickman

The Healing Place will sponsor a Hope For the Holidays community-wide seminar on Oct. 23 for adults who have suffered the loss of a loved one.

The theme for this years’s seminar is, “Until the Sun Shines Again.”

The free event will run from 6-7 p.m. at the Marriott Shoals Conference Center, Florence.

Speakers for the session will be The Healing Place Director Kay Parker and David Rushlow, the chaplain for Hospice of the Shoals who holds a degree in psychology and thanatology certification.

Parker said the seminar is aimed at anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one and is questioning the grief process.

“With Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s approaching, it’s difficult for many people to get through those seasons,” Parker said. “This time of the year is geared toward family and loved ones, and when someone is missing it’s tough on those left behind. This seminar will answer lots of questions for people and help them better understand the grief process they’re going through.”
