Simmons, Puckett and Smith sign from Lauderdale County

Three Lauderale County High players signed football scholarships this morning.

  • DJ Simmons, 5-foot-11 and 191 pounds, signed with UT-Martin. He played at safety, linebacker, running back and quarterback in high school. He had 119 tackles and scored 14 offensive touchdowns as a senior.
  • Brian Puckett, 6-3, 245, a defensive end/tight end, signed with UNA. He made the 2012 All-State first team and 2012 TimesDaily all-area first team. He had 125 yards receiving on 10 receptions and 100 tackles as a senior.
  • Tyler Smith, an offensive and defensive lineman, signed with UNA. He was a 2012 All-State honorable mention and a member of the 2012 TimesDaily all-area first team. He made 111 tackles as a senior.
