The Grammy Award-winning duo The Civil Wars released a statement on their Facebook page apologizing for canceling their 2013 tour and indicating they may be at an impasse.
“We sincerely apologize for the canceling of all of our tour dates,” the statement read. “It is something we deeply regret. However, due to internal discord and irreconcilable differences of ambition we are unable to continue as a touring entity at this time.”
The statement thanks fans who have supported the duo during their wave of commercial and critical success with their debut record “Barton Hollow” going gold, winning the 2012 Americana Music Association’s Duo/Group of the Year award and the 2012 Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.
The Civil Wars consist of Florence native John Paul White and Joy Williams, of Nashville.
