Slain Alabama officer remembered on Rose Parade float

JACKSONVILLE (AP) — One of the floats in the Rose Parade on New Year's Day will feature a portrait of slain Anniston police officer Justin Sollohub.

The officer's mother, Jennifer Morris, and other family members finished the portrait Friday in Jacksonville. It is made of seeds and other organic material.

Al.com reports that it will be one of 72 floragraphs that will adorn the Donate Life float. All 72 floragraphs represent organ donors. The University of Alabama at Birmingham is helping sponsor the memorial.

Sollohub was killed in August while pursuing a suspect. He was 27. Four people received his organs.
