SHEFFIELD — Drivers are being asked to be take note of four-way stops at two downtown Sheffield intersections during construction work along a portion of Second Street.
The traffic signals at Second Street and Atlanta Avenue and Second Street and Montgomery Avenue have been disabled and replaced with stop signs, Mayor Ian Sanford said.
The mayor said the lights are blinking yellow and should be treated as four-way stops.
Sanford said the stop signs will remain in place until new decorative mast arm style traffic signal poles are installed.
Contractors are installing the footings for the new poles, and Second Street from Dover Avenue to Montgomery Avenue is scheduled to be resurfaced.
