FLORENCE — Donations are needed to help a health screening program for Florence elementary school children.
Medical supplies and treats for children are needed to help facilitate the KidCheck Plus program at Harlan, Forest Hills and Weeden elementary schools in Florence. The screenings will be Feb. 5-7.
KidCheck Plus provides basic health, vision and dental screenings to first- and fourth-graders through a partnership with the nursing programs at UNA and Northwest-Shoals.
Event supplies needed are AA batteries, medium size latex-free gloves, hand sanitizer, ink pens, light snacks for nurses and volunteers, bottled water and soft drinks.
Also needed are goodie bags and prizes for the children participating in the screenings. Suggested donations include coloring books, stickers, toothbrushes, books, small toys and pencils. Food and candy items are discouraged.
Nearly 700 children are expected to participate in the screenings.
To coordinate donations, contact Billy Warren, curriculum director for Florence City Schools, at 256-768-3031.
