FLORENCE — Police are investigating the burglary and armed robbery early Wednesday of a residence in the 1900 block of North Wood Avenue.
Florence police Sgt. Cliff Billingsley said the robbery took place at 3:30 a.m. when two men broke into the residence.
Florence police detective Kevin Jackson said one of the robbers is described as a young white man, 5 feet 4 inches tall, who was wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt and khaki pants.
He said the other robber is described as a black man, balding, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and wearing jeans, a University of Alabama hooded sweatshirt and white Nike shoes.
According to statements, two men and two women were asleep inside the house when the robbery occurred. Reports indicate they were in two separate bedrooms when the robbers entered.
Jackson said the two intruders burst through the back door armed with the pistols.
“The victims said they came in demanding money,” Jackson said.
He said the two men who were living at the residence were assaulted with the guns, but declined medical treatment.
According to the residents, the robbers took cash, a computer game system and a cellphone.
