AUBURN — Jonathon Fletcher and Fred Rich scored two touchdowns each to lead Tanner to the Class 2A championship at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
The win gave the Rattlers (14-0) their first state crown in football.
Rich, the game's MVP, finished with 81 yards on 13 carries and intercepted a pass on fourth-and-goal when Washington County was just 4 yards away from tying the game at 14 in the third quarter.
Hayden Stephens added 139 yards on 29 carries for Tanner.
AUBURN — Sophomore Troy Dixon's 232 rushing yards and three long touchdowns led UMS-Wright.
Dixon's first score was a 52-yarder to give the Bulldogs (13-2) a 14-7 lead. Oneonta (14-1) came back with Tyler Smith's 5-yard run to tie the game with 2:53 remaining in the first half. Dixon, the game's MVP, scored on a 61-yarder 51 seconds later to put UMS-Wright ahead again.
Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Roach threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Dixon's brother, T.J., with 6:13 remaining in the third quarter to extend the lead to 28-14. Linebacker KJ Traywick intercepted a screen pass and returned it for a 19-yard score with 5:58 left.
Troy Dixon's final run of the game was a 74-yard touchdown with 3:03 remaining.
