Tharptown girls still perfect in Area 15 play

Tharptown remained unbeaten in Class 1A, Area 15 play, pulling away in the fourth quarter to beat Hackleburg 54-47 in girls basketball Monday night.

The game was tied at 37 with eight minutes to play before Tharptown (6-2, 3-0) outscored the Panthers 17-10 to take the win.

Kamri Sears scored 12 of her game-high 20 points in the second half for the Wildcats. Danielle Creasy chipped in with 13 points.

Abby Lolley paced Hackleburg (3-2) with 13 points.

Collinwood 62, Rogers 51: Collinwood jumped out to a 36-20 lead at halftime and cruised to victory in the second half against Rogers to remain undefeated.

Alexis Haddock led the Trojans (7-0) with 18 points while Lexie Risner added 12. Maggie Green led Rogers with 19 points and Ashley Robertson with 10.

Boys

Tharptown 81, Hackleburg 44: Tharptown led from the start to pick up an area win at Hackleburg.

The Wildcats led 20-15 after the first quarter and then outscored Hackleburg 45-27 in the second and third quarters to pull away. They closed the game on a 16-2 run.

Riley Nolen poured in 27 points in the win, while Max Nolen scored 14 and Drew Gandy added 10.

Dalton Hamby topped hackleburg with nine points.

Collinwood 61, Rogers 50: Four players scored in double figures as Collinwood downed Rogers.

Logan Montgomery led Collinwood (5-2) with 16 points, while Tucker Robertson finished with 13. Wesley Pigg (11) and Alden Littlejohn (10) also made it into double figures.

Caleb Morrow topped Rogers (5-3) with 10 points.
