Tuscumbia council meeting cancelled
By Bernie Delinski
TheTimes Daily

TUSCUMBIA ‑ The City Council’s meeting today has been cancelled while workers continue to move into the new City Hall.

Mayor Bill Shoemaker said it would have been difficult to organize a meeting during this transition time.

The new City Hall is at the former downtown post office on Sixth Street, a block from the city Utilities Department. The previous City Hall had been in a portion of the utilities building that the city rented.

Shoemaker said plans call for the elevator in the new City Hall to be inspected Wednesday. If that goes well, that would clear the way to open the new City Hall to the public.

Until then, city officials ask anyone who needs to conduct city business to call City Hall offices at 256-383-5463 and make arrangements.
