Video of local historical markers to go public
By Lisa Singleton-Rickman
The TimesDaily

Want to learn some local history?

Florence resident David Hope suggests reading the historical markers throughout Colbert and Lauderdale County. Combined, the two counties have about 120 of them.

Don’t think you have time? Hope has an answer for that, too.

Since 2006, Hope, a veteran drama teacher and director, and a former student turned filmaker, Shane Wilson, have been identifying interesting markers, gathering research and making videos from the locations.

So far, 57 of the short (2.5- to 4-minute) vignettes have been compiled on two DVD’s and will soon be aired in a public viewing, on March 22 at 10:30 a.m. at the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library.
