Waterloo and Vina opened girls area tournament play Monday night with victories, keeping their seasons alive for at least one more game.
Vina knocked off Phillips 56-35 in Class 1A, Area 15 play at Tharptown. Waterloo advanced in Class 1A, Area 16 play with a 67-38 victory over Athens Bible.
Four Vina players scored in double figures and the Red Devils outscored Phillips 18-8 in the third quarter to break open a close game.
Morgan Humphries led Vina (14-11) with 12 points, while Jessica Pickle and Miranda Howard had 11 points each. Katlin Benstine added 10.
1A, Area 16 Tournament
Waterloo 67, Athens Bible 38: Bradi Morris scored a career-high 28 points to lead Waterloo past Athens Bible in the opening round game at R.A. Hubbard. The Cougars jumped out to a 33-15 halftime lead and cruised to the victory.
Waterloo faces R.A. Hubbard in the semifinal round Thursday while Athens Bible’s season ends. Baylee Atkinson scored 14 points and Melea McFall added 12 for Waterloo in addition to Morris’ 28. Anna Price led Athens Bible with 18 points.

Girls
Muscle Shoals 54, Sheffield 23: Muscle Shoals jumped out to an 18-0 lead after one quarter and coasted to a victory in its regular-season finale. The Trojans (8-16) used the big lead as an opportunity to let everybody play, as 13 different players scored at least one point, with Keana Reed and Shana Sherrod leading the way with eight points apiece.
Tatyana King led Sheffield with nine points.
Collinwood 63, Rogers 32: Hannah Litrell scored 16 points and Alexis Haddock added 15 as Collinwood rolled past Rogers.
Lakin Arnett added 10 points for the Tennessee Class A No. 10 Trojans, who outscored Rogers 34-12 in the second half to break it open.
Maggie Green’s 11 points paced Rogers (14-11).
Red Bay 44, Hatton 30: Class 2A No. 5 Red Bay trailed 18-10 early in the second quarter before rallying for its 24th win.
The Tigers (24-3) scored the final 12 points of the first half and pulled away for good in the fourth quarter with a 15-4 burst.
Kasey Sparks topped Red Bay with 13 points and Lexi Lindsey added 11 points.
Central 51, Brooks 47: Abby Keener scored 17 points as Central edged Brooks in the regular-season finale.
Central broke a tie game after three quarters by outscoring the Lions 18-13 in the final quarter.
Freshman Amberlee Carter
was clutch at the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, making all six of her attempts.
K’Maya Roach led Brooks (14-13) with 18 points.
Lawrence County 51, Wilson 40: Adrien Coffey scored 14 points to lead three players into double figures.
Whitney Woodard added 11 points, and Victoria McDaniel added 10 for the Red Devils.
Ciarra Edwards led Wilson with 20 points. Brianna Terrell scored 10.
Boys
Brooks 53, Central 45: Class 4A, No. 6 Brooks avoided an upset with a fourth-quarter rally against Central.
The Lions (23-7) trailed 34-30 after three quarters, but rallied behind the play of Skyler Beck and Canaan Sides, who combined for 17 of the team’s 23 points in the final quarter.
Beck scored 10 of his 11 points in the final quarter, while Sides added seven of his 15 points.
Cole Michael scored a game-high 20 points in the loss.
Muscle Shoals 55, Sheffield 41: Kendall Johnson led three Muscle Shoals players in double figures as the Trojans defeated Sheffield. Johnson scored 11 points for the Trojans while LeDamian Stanford and Damarion King each had 10.
Muscle Shoals led 29-23 at halftime, and outscored the Bulldogs 26-18 in the second half to pull away. J.D. Smith led Sheffield with 13 points while Hunter Danley and Shaquille Carroll each had 12.
Haleyville 64, Phil Campbell 54: Haleyville outscored Phil Campbell in each quarter to grab the road win.
Dakota Rushing and Hunter Hood scored 13 points each to pace Haleyville, the Class 4A, Area 15 champion. Lee Lann added 12 points.
Skeeter Benford scored a game-high 14 points and Cameron Harris added 12 for Phil Campbell (14-14).
Rogers 64, Collinwood 54: A 23-point fourth quarter propelled Rogers to a victory over Collinwood.
Leading by one point after three quarters, Rogers erupted for 23 points to finally subdue the Trojans.
Austin Kerr scored seven of his 12 points in the final quarter, while two other players had six each in the final eight minutes.
Brady Murks and Caleb Morrow led Rogers (13-11) with 15 points each. Kerr finished with 12.
Hunter Andrews scored 11 and Kelby Ray had 10 for Collinwood.
