Winning race to the bottom

On Friday evening we received a robo-call from Republican Sen. Del Marsh, of Anniston, who was experiencing some kind of meltdown because sane and intelligent people were opposing his so-called “flexibility bill” that passed in the state Legislature in February. It was a major assault against parents, children and educators in Alabama who were against turning over our schools to the corporate for-profit lobbyists, and who have co-opted Republican legislators. These people will steal millions of dollars from our state.

They have hoodwinked people by using the language of “failing schools,” but this legislation does nothing to help fix the problems of those schools, instead only padding the pockets of the private segregation academies and Republican legislators’ pockets. They have already sold their votes to the gambling industry in Alabama, and now they want unlimited access to your tax dollars.

Stand up and fight the likes of Marsh, Rep. Mike Hubbard, Rep. Lynn Greer and Gov. Robert Bentley as they work hard to win the race to the bottom, which they are intent on winning.
