FLORENCE -- Work began this morning on two bridge replacement projects in Lauderdale County.
County engineer Ken Allamel said crews were putting up signs and closing portions of Lauderdale 49 in Anderson and Lauderdale 133 in the Wright community.
In September, county commissioners approved a $684,198 contract with Glasgow Construction Co. of Guin to replace the bridges.
Allamel said work should be completed within four months.
“Traffic will be detoured around the bridges during that time,” he said. “It’s going to be a little inconvenient for the people who live in those areas for a while, but these are old, substandard bridges that need to be replaced.”
