You Said It

“I watched the vice presidential Thursday night. Vice President Joe Biden reminded me of a used car salesman trying to sell a lemon. I’m not buying what he and President Obama are selling. Rep. Paul Ryan, on the other hand, was polite and respectful. It’s an easy choice as to who I want to run the country.”

“Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have no idea what they even stand for. They have no idea on what to even talk about. They change their mind all the time ...”

“Well, let’s face it. City people are crazy. First, they nuke everything in their yard that’s not grass. Then they cut grass down to where it’s only an inch tall. Then they pile into the car and drive into the country and take pictures of the wildflowers. Go figure.”

“What makes celebrities like Bruce Springsteen think that he can help persuade anybody to vote a certain way in politics? He lives in fantasy world and has no idea what the real Americans need. I always vote just the opposite of what celebrities recommend.”

“If you really think the superintendent and assistant superintendent are saving money, you might want to look at the books real close. ... If they really want to save money and be truthful, forego the raise you’re getting.”

“The thing I got from the vice presidential debate is that while Paul Ryan is a gentleman in every sense of the word, Joe Biden has to be the most disrespectful, ill-mannered, arrogant person I have ever seen or heard. He’s a disgrace.”

“When I moved to Tuscumbia in 1971, I was just absolutely stunned that there’s no place to go uptown and actually buy children’s clothing. And I’ve never been able to buy anything up there but maybe at the drugstore or something like that. I wish the mayor would do something other than what he’s doing. ... I’d like to see him really do what he said he would do and do something about Tuscumbia ... shopping.”

“Just for the fun of it, I wish TimesDaily would put out the question (that) we’re to love each other and not be bigoted and prejudiced and have preventative health care for people where they don’t die and to help the poor ... put that out. Who would support Jesus Christ or the Republican nomination for president? Just see what comes back on the feedback. It’d be interesting.”

“Removing the donkey symbol from the Democratic Party state ballot was a smart decision considering the jackass image Joe Biden displayed in his debate with Paul Ryan.”

“Facebook for pets. Why don’t the veterinarians just give the pets the key to the city?”

“When the state enacts a law requiring voter ID, there is a loud outcry about how this is an onerous burden on the citizens’ right to vote. However, many states have truly onerous and arbitrary requirements before a citizen can exercise his rights to keep and bear arms, but there is no such outcry. I wonder why that is.”

“The debate Thursday night was awesome. Biden did great. I can’t imagine what shape our country would be in if Paul Ryan happened to have to be our president. He had no clue what he was talking about Thursday night. He needs to get up on the world news.”

“In the debate Thursday night, Vice President Joe Biden was the most unprofessional, condescending, rude, smiling idiot I have ever witnessed, and many other people thought the same thing. It will go down in history that way. Where is the TimesDaily on this issue?”

“Every day in the Shoals area, we have wrecks caused by following too close and speeding. They’re not issuing citations for that, but yet you can get caught without a seat belt and you’re definitely going to be given a citation for that. Where are our priorities?”

“I want to thank you, TimesDaily, for your editorial column. You’ve become such a liberal rag that I know to always vote the opposite of what you recommend.”

“One of the deadbeat 47 percent that Romney talks about, G.E., who made $4 billion and paid zero in federal taxes. If you contact Sen. Jeff Sessions about closing the loophole that allows this, you’ll get a letter like I did stating that Sessions thinks even this rate was too high. With a Congress full of Jeff Sessions, I can see why Congress is so dysfunctional.”

“I don’t know which city, Tuscumbia or Sheffield, owns Avalon Avenue from King Street to Montgomery, but man, that road sure needs to be repaired. You could lose your car in some of them holes.”

“I think Paul Ryan looks like Eddie Haskell on ‘Leave It To Beaver,’ with his brother, Wally Cleaver.”

“Biden: inexcusable the way you acted at the debate. Eyes rolling, teeth showing, laughing. I’m sure your family is very proud of you. Nothing is funny about what happened in Benghazi — four Americans dead. Ryan: composure and dignity in such a professional way. I know your family is proud of you.”

“What’s wrong with Washington? If you watched the vice presidential debate, you know. One side wanted to debate the issues and even talked about bipartisanship. The other side bullied, laughed, smirked and belittled. The answer is clear.”

“Most of my life, since I became eligible to vote, I have voted Democrat. That’s when Democrats were for the average person. Now they’re for the rich. That’s what the Democrats are for, and the Republicans are nearly just as bad. But you have to pick and choose between the two evils which one is the less evil - because we don’t have a real choice in this election. But, I for one, am going Republican because I don’t believe in the things Obama ... same-sex marriage, that’s ridiculous. And abortions for anybody that wants them.”

“I have a question. I would like to know what the city superintendent did to merit a $20,000 raise. Understand some people says she’s doing a good job, but how did she merit a $20,000 raise?”

“I want to state that the Florence Board of Education lacks leadership. They allowed Janet Womack to appoint an assistant superintendent without ever posting that job. That should be wrong, if not illegal.”

“I want to say that we as parents always teaching our children if they make a mistake to always take the blame for their mistake, and don’t stand up and lay it onto someone else when it was your mistake, how do we do that when we’ve got a president in the White House and the people in the White House laying all their mistakes on Republicans and Bushes and Newt Gingrich? I mean, that’s ridiculous how they lie and how they put it off on somebody else. They’ve never taken responsibility for their own actions.”

“Romney said he could create 12 million jobs. OK, let’s see him do it. I don’t want to hear about regulations. I don’t want to hear about health care. If he can do that, why hasn’t he already been doing it? Then, 2016, maybe he might get more votes than Barack Obama.”
