You Said It

“OK, you all guys need to take out the comic section and replace the comic section with this Cynthia Tucker’s column because she’s funnier than any ‘Blondie,’ ‘Haggar the Horrible,’ ‘Classic Peanuts’ or anything. She’s just a riot. You all guys keep up the good work by keeping her column in the paper.”

“Two things are going to send this nation to hell — computers and cellphones.”

“On the Chinese company wanting to buy the country club location, you know, sometimes some things just sound too good to be true. I hope they really do some research on this man and his company before putting him next to the landfill that they’re already going to have to be monitoring for the next 30 years.”

“I was just curious as to what price the TimesDaily is willing to place on our personal liberties. Benjamin Franklin stated that those that are willing to give up liberty for security deserve neither security nor liberty.”

“I can’t believe that our congressman, Mo Brooks, just voted against funding for flood insurance and for assistance for the Sandy people. I certainly hope that we don’t have any tornadoes around here where we need his assistance or assistance from the rest of the country.”

“It seems like that Bill Clinton had everything under control when he left office. He balanced the budget and did all the other things necessary. Why can’t Obama learn from Bill Clinton? He’s got him at his side every now and then. Although, I don’t think either one likes the other one. If he done such a good job, which I voted for him, I hope that Obama would take a little bit of what he did and try to do it for himself instead of all this arguing and backstabbing and everything the Republicans and Democrats are doing. Let’s unite and be one party.”

“Cynthia Tucker, in your opinion section ... is so far off base. She has had her head stuck ... in the sand for too many years. And here it says Cynthia Tucker, winner of the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for commentary as a visiting professor at the University of Georgia. God help us.”

“Gene Lyons, the columnist, made some pretty good points about the terrible tragedy of untreated schizophrenia in America and the institutionalization, but I’m afraid he lost most of the readers when he started ranting about Wayne LaPierre and the National Rifle Association. Gene needs to know that he needs to stay on point and not ramble off into the woods there.”

“This ... person that called into the You Said It for Sunday’s paper said that Republicans need to be voted out of office if they’re not going to do what they’re paid for - that’s what is wrong with this country now, idiots like this that are misinformed. What do they think Sen. Harry Reid and the Democrat Senate have done the last three years? Haven’t even passed a budget. So, if anybody needs voted out of office for not doing what they’re paid for it is the Democrats, not the Republicans. You need to be informed, people.”
