You Said It

“Something really bothers me. Sunday at church, small groups praising the Alabama football coach bordered on worshipping him, with no thought of the one we came to worship. Please don’t let the Crimson Tide or anything else replace the crimson cross. Remember what happened to Israel when they worshipped Baal.”

“I believe if they do a thorough background check on a person, also a personal identity check to see who they and what they’ve done in the past and everything, I think it’d be good for us to have armed people in our schools. Now, I don’t mean just every teacher and everybody in there. But I do think we need to have it locked down so people have to ring the doorbell or whatever you want to call it to get in and have to be viewed before they’re in the school.”

“I am not for banning no guns. It’s time to give it up. Quit writing about it. I’m tired of reading it.”

“I hate talking to computers. I love listening to humans on the phone, calling them instead of having to punch buttons. I hate having to punch buttons. I forget what was the first of the message and have to go through it again. It takes five minutes where it wouldn’t take one minute with a human. I wish we would go back to humans, and give people back their jobs.”

“Your article in Saturday’s paper concerning the gays and their churches and the situation society’s in — if people Leviticus, Chapters 18 and 20, study those chapters, Deuteronomy 27, study that chapter, Romans 1, they would get a better understanding of where our society is at today.”

“When I was in school they had the American flag raised every morning. They pledged allegiance to the flag, and they quit doing all that. Now we have all this violence and these children getting killed. It just breaks my heart.”

“I see in the paper where Florence is going to do business with China again. I’m a Vietnam veteran and I support the views of the former councilman that was against it. China supported North Vietnam with weapons and money to kill over 58,000 troops during the Vietnam War in support of the communism. Now Florence wants to do business with them again. So, I guess the saying is right that money speaks louder than words”

“Now you people are selling the country club that you bought and moved the seniors that are way out in the middle of nowhere, when originally that decision came up you should have put in the Deibert house at Deibert Park to start with. You all are wasting more money. Just stupid.”

“All of the people who are talking about arming teachers in the schools need to remember that Amy Bishop was a teacher with a gun.”

“On the subject of building a new senior center, is it really city government’s job to build a place for people to hang out and play pool?”

“Have you noticed in the college games how they advertise and promote alcohol? Most of them are not old enough to drink. They shouldn’t be drinking alcohol and in school and playing ball. It’s just a work of the devil.”

“President Reagan ruined this country when he took the unions away. Alabama has the right to work law, which is a law against the working class people. The working class people need to get smart and bring the unions back to Alabama.”

“I read Tuesday morning about the person who called in on the You Said It criticizing the school for punishing the student for what he said about President Obama. He put the school in a bad light. He put himself in a bad light. So, watch what you say. If you don’t want to get in trouble, then watch your mouth. The school had no choice but to do what they did, and the person that called in, undoubtedly, thought it was all right. The president receives respect and even though you don’t like him, I think you should respect him and don’t criticize so much.”

“Instead of worrying about taking guns away from law-abiding people, why don’t they put a metal detector in the schools for everybody to go through, especially visitors? Do like they do in the airports and make sure they don’t have a gun on them. I think there should be an armed guard there doing that, and maybe a couple more ...”

“They need to limit these handicapped signs and stickers or hanging on these mirrors. People that are in better shape need to walk in. There’s people that can’t make it to the building that needs that. Quit giving them out to people that’s just too lazy to walk inside the store.”

“The Sandy Hook shootings were a tragedy. But Piers Morgan on CNN, he talks about the children like he cares about the children, but he doesn’t want the teachers to be armed. Doesn’t that tell you something?”

“I would just like to say that my daughter came to ECM Hospital on Christmas Day and was put in the ICU unit at ECM Hospital. The nurses, men and women in that unit, are not just nurses - they are angels. Everyone has went above and beyond what they should have ever done to help my daughter I just want the world to know I am so grateful for them.”
