You said it
  • Since I stopped buying lottery tickets, I always have extra money in my pockets. I guess that makes me a winner every time.”

  • “I just heard on late TV, ‘Democracy Now,’ that five American soldiers were killed in Afghanistan Sunday. It’s time we get out of that country and bring our boys and girls home.”

  • “The superintendent, Janet Womack, said that she got her raise because what she was doing was valuable. That’s what she gets paid for is doing her job. She cannot do her job if the teachers don’t do their job, and they are more valuable. They are the ones teaching our children to be what they need to be - and they need the money more than she does.”

  • “I want to thank Lisa Rickman for not buying and drinking the Kool-Aid that the superintendent and Florence city school board is putting out. And, $600,000 renovation in a building that’s not even theirs is a waste of money. Cancelling after-school care for at-risk kids is wrong. Giving the superintendent a giant raise when the teachers have to ask parents to bring Kleenex and other items of necessity is wrong. Somebody needs to look into that deeper.”

  • “I was living in San Francisco when Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro were running for president and vice president. Thirty days before the election all the news channels, all the Democrat papers, come out and said the Democrats would win by a landslide. Well, they lost by a landslide and we know Reagan won.”

  • “To my knight in shining armor, thanks again so much for returning my purse that I had left in the shopping cart in the Muscle Shoals Wal-Mart parking lot. May God be with you always. It’s so nice to know that there still are honest people around.”

  • “It was difficult for me to believe that our president that we have now voted to allow gays to marry. What difference does it make if they got a piece of paper or not? They’re not going to be able to reproduce, so living together doesn’t make any difference. And, Romney, I’m afraid of him and what he will do because he has no use for people that are just middle class. And he’d just as soon to throw us in the river as naught.”

  • “I would like to express my appreciation to a gentleman whose name I do not know, but who came to my rescue recently when I was walking on Oak Hill Avenue in Sheffield. When I reached 400 block I was confronted with two snarling dogs who I believed would have bitten me if this gentleman had not heard them and come out to distract them. He told me they belong to a house on the street and frequently get out.”
